Fatal Crash Shuts Down I-71 Ramps From I-670 Near Downtown.

Columbus police closed both north and southbound ramps to Interstate 71 from Interstate 670 east, while officers investigated a fatal crash early Saturday morning.

According to the Columbus Police Department, at about 2:46 a.m. Saturday, 41-year-old Rebecca Pugh was driving eastbound I-670 towards I-71 when she lost control of the vehicle and struck the concrete median.

Pugh was ejected from the car and pronounced dead at the scene.

The ramps from I-670 eastbound to I-71 in both directions were closed for about five hours while police investigated, but have since reopened.

Police continue to investigate the crash, but say alcohol could be a factor in the crash.
