Quinton man dies after crash near Lake Eufaula

Troopers said nobody in the vehicle was wearing a seat belt. A trooper said he smelled an odor of alcohol on Cook, but the toxicology report has not been completed.

The investigating trooper said Cook smelled of an alcoholic beverage, and the cause of the wreck is under investigation.
Quinton resident James Cook, 50, is deceased after crashing his utility-terrain vehicle near Lake Eufaula on Friday at approximately 9:30 p.m. Cook and two passengers were riding on a beach about two miles south of Crowder when Cook lost control of the vehicle. Cook was ejected from the UTV after it rolled on its passenger side. Cook died at the scene. The two passengers, Jared Howell, 34, and Christopher Hoffman, 38, were not injured in the accident.
