Ferguson tried to run the officers off the road and also tried to press the officers by slamming on his brakes. Ferguson was headed down 76th Street North when a woman in another car was driving westbound. Ferguson tried to make a right turn but was unable to do so because of speeding and crashed into the woman's car.

At that point, the vehicle hit a 2012 Chevy Cruze that was driven by 64-year-old Etoyce Johnson.
Both of the vehicles left the roadway and crashed into trees and brush.
