Crash on U.S. 101 in Tillamook County leaves 1 dead, 1 injured

UPDATE: FATAL TRAFFIC CRASH - HIGHWAY 101 NORTH OF CLOVERDALE IN TILLAMOOK COUNTY

According to Lieutenant Justin McGladrey, on October 23, 2014 at approximately 3:07 p.m., a 1997 Ford Ranger pickup driven by CHRISTOPHER ALLEN FITCH, age 21, from Beaverton, was northbound on Highway 101 near Old Condor Bridge Road about milepost 84.

Investigators said Christopher Allen Fitch, 21, was driving a pickup truck northbound at a high speed when he crossed the center line while driving around a curve and struck a Ford Taurus nearly head-on.

OSP were assisted at the scene by the Tillamook County Sheriff's Office, Nestucca Rural Fire & Rescue, Tillamook Regional Medical Center Ambulance, Tillamook County Medical Examiner, Tillamook County District Attorney's Office and ODOT.

A pickup driven by 21-year-old Christopher Allen Fitch heading northbound on U.S. 101 near Old Condor Bridge Road crossed into oncoming traffice and struck a car, killing the car's driver. The driver of the car was a 70-year old male, identified as Gerald Dee Will, who died at the scene. Fitch suffered minor injuries.
