Train strikes man who was walking along tracks after running out of gas

A 19-year-old man whose car ran out of gas along Interstate 5 died late Monday night when he was struck by a train in Albany, the Linn County Sheriff's Office reported.

"Moments later, this happened, so (the employee) witnessed it," Burks said. "They probably just didn't hear it or see it. Georgia-Pacific has a lot of equipment running," he added.

Sheriff's Lt. Forest Burks told the Albany Democrat-Herald the Georgia-Pacific Chemical Division nearby has a lot of equipment running, so the two may not have heard or seen the train.
Luke James Warner and Bailey Anne Weinberg, 18, were walking along the railroad tracks near Interstate 5 after their car ran out of gas. Warner was struck and killed by a train, Weinberg was uninjured. The investigation of the incident is still underway.
