Kiden Dilla, 18, Ayan Osman, 19, both students at Pacific University, killed, after their car collides with a box truck at an intersection on Highway 47 near Forest Grove.

An 18-year-old driver and her 19-year-old passenger were killed in a crash on Highway 47 north of Forest Grove Monday morning, officials said.

Driver Kiden Dilla, 18, and passenger Ayan Osman, 19, were killed in the crash. The two young women were students at Pacific University in Forest Grove.

Brad Hodges was driving just a short distance behind the victims' vehicle and saw the terrible crash.

"It was a big bang and everything just slid," he said. “I wish there was more I could do, I really do. I wish I could have done something more.”

Hodges stopped his vehicle, ran over to the wreckage and tried to help. But he said the two women inside the car had already died.

"Upon arrival, two people in a passenger vehicle were pronounced deceased at the scene," said a police spokesman for the Washington County Sheriff's Office. "The passenger car was stopped westbound on Northwest Verboort Road [at a stop sign] when it pulled into the path of a northbound box truck driven by an adult male."

The driver of the truck was not injured, police said.

Neighbors who have lived near the intersection for 25 years, said it's a very dangerous stretch of roadway.

”I don’t know how many people have to be killed there before something major changes, everyone’s always said there needs to be a light there,” one said.

Just a few feet from Monday’s accident, a cross marks the spot where a Banks high school student died in a similar crash in 2007. Officials with the Oregon Department of Transportation said from January 2008 to July 2013, there have been 27 crashes at the intersection, resulting in 37 injuries.

ODOT has made changes. In 2005 they added turn lanes and four years later, they added street lights to increase visibility at night. They also posted a sign along Veerbort Road that warns: Cross traffic on OR 47 doesn’t stop.

After Monday's crash, the highway was blocked in both directions for the investigation, until around 2 p.m.
