The driver, a 33-year-old man from Hillsboro, was driving east on Johnson Street when the crash occurred. It appears he was driving within the 20-mile-an-hour speed limit during school hours, Rouches said.
"He simply didn't see them," Rouches said. The road conditions were clear and sunny at the time of the accident, he said. Investigators are working to confirm his identification, he said.
