The Marion County Traffic Safety Team's CRASH unit is headed to the scene to assist in the investigation. Deputies expect the intersection will be closed for the next several hours and motorists should seek alternate routes.
22-year-old Juan Velazquez of Salem, Oregon was critically injured when his motorcycle struck a car on River Road in Marion County Saturday night. The accident occured just before midnight near the intersection of Quinaby Road NE and River Road North, near Keizer. Investigators initially found that Velazquez was driving northbound on his Harley Davidson when he ran into an Acura driven by Alfonso Acosta-Acosta, 20, of Keizer. The vehicles collided at the intersection of Quinaby and River Road. Acosta-Acosta received treatment at an area hospital and was released. Velazquez was transported to OHSU Hospital, with critical injuries. Investigators continue to work the scene. We will have more details on this story as they are released.
