Three people were hurt in an icy early morning crash that shut down North Columbia Boulevard for two hours Monday.

Three people were hurt in an icy early morning crash that shut down North Columbia Boulevard for two hours Monday.

The crash was reported just after 6 a.m. in the 8800 block of North Columbia Boulevard.

Officers arrived and closed the street between North Burgard Street and Chimney Park, said a Portland police Sgt.

Fire crews responded to the scene and pulled one patient from one of the three vehicles involved, said Lt. Rich Chatman of Portland Fire & Rescue. Three people were taken to nearby hospitals with injuries described as traumatic. The extent of their injuries and their conditions were not known.

"Icy road conditions were a factor in the cause of the accident," police said.
