A stretch of the Pennsylvania Turnpike is expected to remain closed until at least 10 a.m. Wednesday due to a fatal tractor-trailer crash that occurred Tuesday night.
A Turnpike Commission spokesman said the state police are conducting an accident reconstruction at the scene. He added that the Turnpike will remain closed between the Gettysburg Pike and Harrisburg West exits. The deceased driver has been identified as David E. Vanevery 70, from Reading.
The crash involved three tractor-trailers, and occurred around 11 p.m. Tuesday, when the storm was just starting to move into the area.
Another crash occurred at the beginning of the eastbound detour at Exit 236 to Gettysburg Pike, and a disabled vehicle is blocking the exit ramp, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.
Defebo said traffic is backing up in the eastbound lanes.
