Helicopter crash kills one in Poconos, cause is under investigation
The flight departed Doylestown Airport in Bucks County en route to the Mountain Bay Airport in Pike County, according to the Federal Aviation Administration. The aircraft crashed on the property of the Skytop Lodge, near Krummel Hill Road, which is also called state Route 390. The crash occurred in a heavily forested, rocky, mountainous area near the Monroe County border.
Emergency personnel accessed the crash site via a gated, private dirt road on property of the Sky Top resort.
Pilot killed in crash in Pike County identified
Meyer's wife, Dianne, said her husband had more than four decades of experience as a pilot and had been flying a helicopter for about 10 years. She said he was heading to the family's summer home on Lake Wallenpaupack.
