Police Close In On Hit-And-Run Suspect That Killed Two Year OldBoy(link is external)

It'€™s been more than four months since a driver struck and killed a two-year-old in Kensington, and critically injured his mother, but police say they are finally closing in on the suspect. Police had the car they believe struck the mother and son at Mascher and Lehigh Streets, within days of the April 13th accident, and a pretty good idea of who was driving. A Lycoming County man turned the car in, saying he'€™d loaned it to 22-year-old Miquel Colon, who returned it with damage matching debris left at the scene. But it wasn'€™t until this week that police issued an arrest warrant, a long-awaited relief for the victims'€™ relatives, such as Daisy Sanchez.

Rivera has received $50,000 from an insurance policy under which she was covered, and is expected to receive $100,000 more in total from that policy and another policy owned by Glace, Riesenfeld said. Her lawsuit seeks more than $50,000 for continuing medical expenses and for emotional suffering for the loss of her son.

It was about 7:02pm when a 19-year-old woman who was carrying her 2-year-old son in a car seat was crossing Mascher Street, just steps away from their home, and was struck by a white, four-door sedan. The collision knocked the woman underneath a parked pickup truck, and sent her son onto the sidewalk. Both of the victims were taken to Episcopal Hospital by a Good Samaritan with critical injuries, and while the woman is expected to survive, the toddler remains in extremely critical condition. The vehicle that hit the pair, which reportedly contained two men, fled the scene of the accident.
