Anthony J. Policelli, 22, dies in motorcycle crash with dump truck on Pen Argyl Road in Plainfield Township, Pennsylvania
Upper Mount Bethel man, 22, dies in motorcycle crash with truck in Plainfield Twp.
A 22-year-old Upper Mount Bethel motorcyclist was killed Wednesday morning south of Pen Argyl when his bike crashed head-on into a dump truck, authorities said.
Anthony J. Policelli ran into the tri-axle truck at 10 a.m. in the 1600 block of Pen Argyl Road, in Plainfield Township, about a half-mile south of Mill Road, Northampton County Coroner Zachary Lysek said.
Moving at "a high rate of speed," the motorcycle crossed the center line and collided with the dump truck, Lysek said. Policelli, of the 1200 block of Bangor Court, died of multiple blunt-force trauma, according to the coroner, who ruled the death accidental.
Since motorcycle crashes often end in serious injuries, victims need immediate help
Motorcycle accidents are more likely to end in serious injuries or death for the motorcyclist, since the rider is not protected from the force of a collision. When a motorcycle accident happens, the injured rider needs immediate, appropriate medical care, the accident needs to be investigated, and the insurance companies need to be informed.
When a motorcycle crash is caused by negligence, additional steps need to be taken to protect the legal rights of the injured motorcyclist or the family members of someone killed in a motorcycle crash. Go here to learn more about motorcycle accidents and claims.
