A suspected DUI driver smashed into a man overnight before trying to get away.
An unidentified man suffered serious injuries when he was hit in Kingsessing early Wednesday morning.
A suspected DUI driver smashed into a man overnight before trying to get away.
The crash near 54th Street and Woodland Avenue in the Kingsessing neighborhood of Philadelphia left the victim in critical condition.
According to police, a man in his 20s was behind the wheel around midnight.
Police say the victim was thrown over the hood of the car, leaving the windshield smashed. He was taken to the Hospital at the University of Pennsylvania where he was treated for internal and severe leg injuries.
As of mid morning, he remained in extremely critical condition.
The driver, who police charged with driving under the influence, and one of two passengers fled the scene on foot before being detained. A second passenger remained at the scene.
