Police in Upper Darby are searching for a suspect involved in a fatal hit-and-run accident Sunday evening that left a 69-year old man and his dog dead. The Upper Darby Police Superintendent says Richard Patterson was walking his pet poodle when they were both struck on Providence Road near Arbor Lea Road around 5:30pm: “Apparently he was either dragged, or thrown by the vehicle, at least 60 or 70 feet. He was dead on the scene, and the dog was also dead" said police. There are very few details available, and only one witness to the fatal accident. The only description of the vehicle is that it is white or silver colored, and may have been dragging the front bumper as it sped away east on Providence Road. Investigators say they do not believe Sunday’s bad weather had anything to do with this incident.
