State police say a high school senior was speeding around other traffic on the way to his southwestern Pennsylvania high school before he crashed his pickup and was killed.
Jesse Benson was on his way to school when the pickup he was driving crashed into another car on Route 21 in Graysville, killing the 18-year-old. Police say Benson was traveling to West Greene Middle and High School at around 7:50 a.m. Tuesday when he sped around a line of traffic on Route 21. According to police, another motorist trying to make a left turn out of the line of traffic clipped Benson's pickup, which caused it to flip end over end. Benson wasn't wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from his vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Several junior firefighters were called to the crash scene before it was known that the victim was a fellow classmate.
