Ashley D. Brechbiel killed when her car crosses roadway, hits semi.

A Chambersburg woman died in a head-on collision along the southbound lanes of Interstate 81 this morning in Southampton Township, Franklin County, state police said. The victim was identified as Ashley D. Brechbiel, 26, no address given, according to police. Troopers said Brechbiel was traveling north on Interstate 81 just after 2 a.m. in her 1993 Dodge Dakota truck, when she left the roadway, crossed the grassy median and entered the southbound lanes near Exit 24, the exit for Route 696. Brechbiel collided head-on with a tractor trailer being driven by a 45-year-old man from Brooklyn, New York, the man sustained minor injuries after the rig overturned, police said. The roadway was shut down for more than four hours while crews cleared the wreckage.
