At the time of the crash, Lott was responding to a call about a prowler on Piper Road.
Deputy hospitalized after morning crash
The deputy was able to alert other officers of the collision.
At about 5:50 a.m., deputy Nicholas Lott was northbound on Columbia Highway, responding to reports of a prowler, when his car collided with another vehicle that was entering the highway from Old Jordan Road. Both Lott and the driver of the other vehicle were hospitalized as a result of the collision, though both are reported to be in stable condition.
