One dead in single-vehicle collision on Ashley River Road in Charleston County, South Carolina
One dead after car hits tree in Charleston County
Officials with the Charleston County Sheriff's Office say at 1:40 a.m. deputies responded to a single vehicle collision on Ashley River Road before the Dorchester County line.
According to CCSO officials, a car traveling southbound on Ashley River Road crossed into the northbound lane at a high rate of speed then went back into the southbound lane.
"The vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree," CCSO officials said."The driver was pronounced dead at the scene."
The cause of the accident is under investigation by the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Division and the Charleston County Coroner’s Office.
