Both a 2019 Nissan and a 1992 Peterbilt tractor trailer were driving south on U.S. 21, according to Tidwell. When the tractor trailer turned left at the intersection with Old 21, the Nissan collided with the 18-wheeler, Tidwell said.

Officials say Jerome Montgomery, 56, of Gaston was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident at Hwy. 21 and Old 21 in the Ridgeway area.
