Clemson student dies after motorcycle crashes into pickup truck, troopers say
Griffis was traveling west on Seneca Creek Road and a 2011 Chevrolet pickup truck was heading east, attempting to make a left turn into a private driveway, when the truck was hit by Griffis’ motorcycle, troopers said.

This collision was reported to Oconee County 911 communications at 3:15 pm; this collision occurred on Seneca Creek Road near the Seneca Creek Boat Ramp access. The deceased was a helmeted motorcycle operator.

Coroner Karl Addis said Caleb Matthew Griffis died at the hospital. Griffis was from Tallulah Falls, GA and was a student at Clemson University.

Caleb was an avid outdoorsman. He loved to hunt, fish, hike, camp and do all things outdoors. Caleb had a very strong work ethic and was always fully committed to whatever task was at hand.

The newspaper said Griffis was wearing a helmet, but he was thrown from the motorcycle during the collision. He died about an hour after the accident at Oconee Memorial Hospital.
