Driver dies when they get trapped in car fire after crash in South Carolina, coroner says

One person is dead after a crash and vehicle fire on Interstate 85 near Gaffney, according to the Cherokee County coroner.

Investigators determined a 2015 Nissan Altima was traveling south at a high rate of speed when it hit a parked construction truck and then a concrete barrier wall.

The two-vehicle wreck happened at about 3:20 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 28, on Interstate 85 near Gaffney, Cherokee County Coroner Dennis Fowler said in a news release.
