Officials learned that Pecora was standing at the back of her vehicle when another vehicle hit the SUV that had stopped to assist her, the coroner’s office said. She was taken to the hospital where she later died due to those injuries.

Travis Desmond Hawkins, 50, was arrested and charged in the crash that happened about 10:30 p.m. Friday on Interstate 385 South near the West Georgia Road exit, or exit 29, officials said.
