Coroner: Westside High student killed in crash

The single-car accident occurred on Blume Road near New Prospect Church Road in Anderson County.
Veronica Hayes was headed south on Blume Road at about 9:40 p.m. when her vehicle ran off the left side of the road, causing her to overcorrect and then run off the right side of the road. Her 1995 Pontiac Grand Am struck an embankment and overturned, ejecting the teenager, who was apparently not wearing a seat belt. Speed appears to have been a factor.
