The coroner's office is conducting an investigation, but said it doesn't appear the glider crashed because of mechanical issues.
Kelly Lee Easler of Inman fell to his death at the intersection of Blalock Knoll Way and Fosters Grove Road in Chesnee, South Carolina Monday night when his motorized glider crashed into trees 80 feet above the ground. According to the Spartanburg County Coroner, Easler attempted to jump to a nearby limb and fell to the ground. He was pronounced dead just prior to 8 p.m. One other passenger onboard the glider was rescued by firemen.
