Roadway blocked after steel falls from truck on icy Interstate 75 in Ooltewah, Tennessee
UPDATE: I-75 reopens in Ooltewah; crashes snarl other roads
Local authorities have responded to at least 30 traffic crashes on roadways this morning as wet and cold conditions create ice on some roads.
Interstate 75 was shut down in Ooltewah for two hours this morning after steel fell off of a truck, according to the Chattanooga Police Department. All lanes in both directions reopened at 11:45 a.m.
Traffic is also at a halt in both directions on I-75 at the Georgia-Tennessee line. According to the Georgia Department of Transportation, all lanes of I-75 were blocked at the intersection of Cloud Springs Road because of an accident with two trucks involved. Some northbound lanes have since reopened.
