King said she and Hernandez had been dating for two years. They met at Centennial High School. King called their meeting “love at first sight," even though David was two years her junior.
“The richest man could have walked up to me and David could be the poorest person,” King said. “And I'd still choose David.”
David Hernandez was walking on the train tracks near the Bell Historic Franklin Apartments with his headphones in, on the way to visit his girlfriend. Investigators believe he did not hear the train coming, and the train was not able to stop in time. He was found dead at the scene.
