Customs helicopter crashes in South Texas.

A U.S. Customs and Border Protection Office of Air and Marine helicopter has crashed in South Texas injuring three aboard.

A U.S. Customs and Border Protection Office of Air and Marine helicopter has crashed in South Texas injuring three aboard. The crash occurred Friday morning near Falfurrias. Brooks County Sheriff's Chief Deputy Benny Martinez said three agents aboard the helicopter were flown to a McAllen hospital for treatment of what were not believed to be life-threatening injuries. The white helicopter came to rest tilted nearly on its side with twisted rotors in a small clearing surrounded by low trees. The Border Patrol maintains a highway checkpoint south of town, about an hour's drive north of Texas-Mexico border. The ranchlands south of Falfurrias are busy human smuggling routes as guides attempt to circumvent the checkpoint.
