Driver Killed in Crash with Rock Hauler in Denton County

The driver of a westbound Hyundai Elantra was pronounced dead at the scene, officials said. The driver of the rock hauler was airlifted to JPS Hospital in Fort Worth in unknown condition.

The other drivers were treated at the scene. Authorities haven't released any of their names. The highway was closed Monday night while crews worked to clean up the spilled rocks.

Jamie Richardson, 50, was driving west on the highway near South County Line Road about 7 p.m. when she was hit by the eastbound truck. She died at the scene, said Sgt. Lonny Haschel, a spokesman for the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Haschel said two other westbound drivers noticed the rock hauler, driven by 60-year-old David McMinn, crossing the center line and tried to take evasive action but were still struck near the Wise-Denton County line.

A driver has died after being struck by a tractor trailer that was hauling rocks Monday evening in Denton County. The semi crossed into the westbound lanes and struck three other vehicles including another tractor trailer. The driver of a westbound Hyundai Elantra was pronounced dead at the scene, officials said.
