A motorcyclist died in a traffic crash late Tuesday night near Interstate 10 in east Harris County.

A motorcyclist died in a traffic crash late Tuesday night near Interstate 10 in east Harris County.

The wreck occurred about 10:45 p.m. in the 16600 block of Market Street near the East Freeway, according to the Harris County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies said the motorcyclist was riding a 2013 KTM westbound on Market, failed to drive in a single lane of traffic and crossed into the opposing traffic lane. The motorcycle toppled onto its side and slid along the roadway.

Deputies said the motorcyclist, who was not wearing a helmet, was thrown from the motorcycle and died at the scene. The victim's name has not been released.

Deputies are investigating the crash.
