A Utah man is dead following an avalanche in San Pete County Sunday.

A Utah man is dead following an avalanche in San Pete County Sunday. Officials say four highly experienced back country snowmobilers were riding near Huntington Reservoir. The four were said to be trained in avalanche rescue and had beacons, probes, shovels, and Spot GPS at the time of the accident. When the avalanche occurred, the others in the party reached the area and located their friend who was buried 6 to 8-feet under the surface and began CPR. They also sent a message with the Spot GPS which sends GPS coordinates with a request for help. Rescuers from State Parks, Emery and San Pete County, as well as Fairview Ambulance, responded to the scene. Clint Conover from Ferron, Utah did not survive. He leaves behind a wife and five children.
