A medical helicopter was called to the scene but the student was taken by ambulance to Intermountain Medical Center in critical condition, Hoyal said.

A group of five or six Hillcrest High School students were all crossing 900 E in the crossswalk when one of them, a 17-year-old male on a skateboard, was struck by a car driven by a 35-year-old woman. No one else was injured or even hit by the car in the accident, but the victim was critically injured and currently remains in the hospital in critical condition. Investigation continues to determine the cause of the accident, and we will add more details as they become available.
