The collision happened early Monday afternoon on Vermont Route 22A in Bridport near the border with Shoreham.

State Trooper Eden Neary said in a statement the crash occurred when a 2001 Volkswagen Beetle that was headed north crossed the center line "for an unknown reason" and slammed head-on into a 2000 Ford F-350 truck.

Two other adults in the truck were taken to UVM Medical Center in Burlington to be treated injuries described as non-life threatening. Police identified them as Lisa Nunez, 51, and Thomas Sykes, 27.

In the crash report obtained from the Vt. Department of Motor Vehicles, police say Holmes had ten times the legal limit of THC in his system, citing Colorado standards where there are legal levels of impairment while driving.
