Third Bicycle Related Death in Nine Weeks Starts Conversation

WATERBURY, Vt.- In light of a third bicycle related death in the last nine weeks, Vermont Transportation Secretary Sue Minter is speaking out. Lyon says '€œthe foundation was created to honor the life of Richard Tom who lost his life cycling hear his home in Vermont. "Every single fatality is a tragedy that we know could be prevented- if we could do more,'€ said Minter. "I myself have been hit by a car when cycling. Wednesday, Kenneth Najarian was struck and killed while riding his bicycle in Ferrisburgh.

Bicyclist Killed After Being Hit by Vehicle

According to police, Gonyeau's preliminary breath test indicated a blood alcohol content of .123%. 
Authorities report that 60-year-old Kenneth Najarin died at approximately 6 p.m. on Greenbush Road in Ferrisburgh Wednesday. Police say that 36-year-old Holly Gonyeau was under the influence of alcohol when she collided with Najarian. She faces DUI charges and is due in court June 29th.
