Vermont State Police say a man involved in a crash on Interstate 89 over the weekend has died.

Vermont State Police troopers are investigating a head on-crash on Interstate 89 in Waterbury that seriously injured one of the drivers.

Police say that at about 3:20 a.m. Saturday a vehicle that was headed southbound in the northbound lane collided with a northbound tractor trailer truck.

After the collision the truck crossed the median and came to rest across both southbound lanes.

The driver of the car, later identified as Brian German, 38, was taken to Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington with serious bodily injuries.

The driver of the truck was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The investigation into the cause of the crash is continuing.

UPDATE: Brian German died from his injuries in hospital on 03/05/14,
