Police said a 2004 Chevrolet Avalanche drifted over the shoulder Sept. 14 on East 64 at Rip Rap Road in Hampton. The driver, Brittany Truett Newcomb, spun the wheel to the left and over-corrected running into the jersey barrier, a concrete wall separating the lanes, head-on, according to authorities.
Gloucester woman dies after crash in Hampton
A Gloucester Point woman died Wednesday from injuries she sustained in a crash Sunday on Interstate 64 near Rip Rap Road in Hampton, according to the Virginia State Police.

Newcomb was ejected from the vehicle and taken to Riverside Hospital before dying three days later. Haas stayed in the car but was still severely injured.
