Newport News police are seeking the driver who hit and killed a 60-year-old Hampton woman early Sunday morning around 1:15 a.m. Sandra E. Balance was walking in the road on Jefferson Avenue when she was struck by a vehicle, which fled northbound on Jefferson Ave. Authorities say the car that hit Balance is possibly a gold Chevrolet Malibu that probably has front end damage and is missing a windshield wiper. Contact local police with any information.
