Residents in the area say it's very unusual for someone to be on the tracks at that time of night.
Police investigate death of Fairfax teen hit by train
Brooke Buesking, 15, of Fairfax, was reported missing around 9 p.m. Wednesday. About the same time, police received a report that a person had been hit by a train near Sideburn and New Guinea roads, according to the Fairfax County Police Department.
Teen Struck, Killed by Amtrak Train in Fairfax
Buesking was a sophomore at Robinson Secondary School in Fairfax. A letter sent out by Principal Matthew Eline says she was in the orchestra and band.
Officials say a woman was hit by an Amtrak train just north of the Burke Centre Shopping Plaza in Fairfax County Wednesday night. Amtrak officials confirmed a Route 50 train traveling from Chicago to New York struck a trespasser around 9:30 p.m. Fairfax County Police investigated the crash late into the night.
