Pedestrian struck and killed near Springfield bus stop

A pedestrian was struck and killed near a bus stop in Springfield Saturday evening, according to the Fairfax County Police Department. Police say a car struck a woman and veered toward another lane, striking an additional car. The pedestrian died as a result of her injuries and police have not released her name at this time. The accident happened on Old Keene Mill near Greeley Boulevard around 2:50 p.m. The crash involved two cars and police say several people were injured.

Woman Waiting for Bus Hit, Killed by Car

A woman was killed after she was struck while waiting for a bus by a car that lost control on Saturday. The car that struck Mamo continued, crossing the median and striking another vehicle. Fairfax County police said Senait Mamo, of Springfield, was killed when she was hit on Old Keene Mill around 2:05 p.m. Police said she was waiting at that location for a bus and was pronounced dead at the scene. English and two passengers in his car were transported to Inova Fairfax Hospital, where they were treated and released.

Police charged the Acura driver, Corey English, 22, of Fredericksburg, Va., with driving while intoxicated. The driver of the second vehicle, a 43-year-old Springfield woman, was also transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injures. Senait Mamo, of Springfield, was struck by a 2005 Acura at around 2:05 p.m., according to a police release. Fairfax County police have a charged a man with DUI after he allegedly hit a 47-year-old woman while waiting for a bus on Old Keene Mill Road near Greeley Boulevard Saturday. The driver and two passengers in the Acura were transported to Inova Fairfax Hospital where they were treated and released for their injuries.
