Vancouver fire captain killed in Friday car crash

“It seems to be the result of an overcorrection,” Walker said, adding that Roberts also appeared to be wearing his seatbelt. “The lap and shoulder belt were attached.”

Vancouver Fire Capt. Gregg Roberts has died from injuries he sustained in a car crash on Friday afternoon. His car rolled off the road at about 1:30 p.m. on June 6 as Roberts was heading east on Ward Road, Fire Chief Joe Molina said. "He was the driver, and he was ejected," Molina said. He died at about 10:30 p.m. Friday night from his injuries. Roberts leaves behind a wife and three children. The department and the family plan to meet Monday to discuss funeral arrangements, Molina said. Roberts was hired by the department in 2004 and promoted to Captain in 2010. He was an active member of Vancovuer Fire's Honor Guard and was also a Peer Fitness trainer.
