The family of a Victoria B.C. teen who died in an accident during a cancer charity bicycle ride on Sunday say they are heartbroken by his death.

Xavier Pelletier, a 16-year-old from Victoria, B.C., killed Sunday in Arlington during the two-day Ride to Conquer Cancer charity bicycle event, was described as a gentle soul and a talented young athlete.
Xavier was passing other bicyclists when the vehicle hit him. No other riders were hurt.Investigators don't blame the driver. She was unable to stop, even though she had been going slower than the 35 mph speed limit.
