The boyfriend and girlfriend, both 20-years old, died at the scene while trying to make a left turn onto Weidland Avenue from Canyon Drive, police said. The driver's young son, a toddler, survived the crash and remains hospitalized. Police said his car seat saved his life.

All three were in a vehicle traveling eastbound on Canyon Drive when the male driver made a left turn toward Weiland Street and collided with a SUV going westbound on Canyon Drive, said Kent Police spokesman Jarod Kasner in a Monday phone interview.
