Kirkland police were called to a report of an attempted burglary and found a man fleeing in a stolen car early Thursday. As officers arrived in the commercial area of 130th Lane Northeast, a black man driving a Mercedes that was stolen the night before from Infiniti of Kirkland was leaving the scene. After two short pursuits the driver crashed the car in the 17500 block of Redmond Woodinville Road and then ran away. A K-9 unit was unable to find the man, who is believed to have entered the Sammamish slough and swam toward Redmond.
