Tanker truck overturns on Snoqualmie pass, spilling fuel, shutting down I-90 near North Bend, Washington
Eastbound I-90 near North Bend may be closed until 4 p.m.
The eastbound lanes are closed at exit 34. A hazmat crew is at the scene.
WSP first tweeted about the crash, which is at milepost 43, at 7:35 a.m. Tuesday. Troopers say a car struck the tanker and caused it to roll.
One tanks of the tandem tanker is filled with gasoline. The other tank is filled with diesel. The fuel must be offloaded to another vehicle before the tanker can be moved upright.
Eastbound I-90 Snoqualmie Pass closed for hours after crash
Troopers say the accident was caused by a pickup attempting to pass the tanker. The pickup lost control and slammed into the cab of the semi, leading to the crash. Nobody was injured,
The state patrol says hazmat teams and the Department of Ecology are at the scene. The tanker is leaking one gallon of fuel per minute.
WSP initially said I-90 would reopen at 4 p.m. but then said it could be later due to the spill.
