"His patrol vehicle was struck head on by a blue truck that had crossed the center line due to road conditions and excessive speed," said a sheriff's office statement. "It took rescue crews nearly 30 minutes to extricate our deputy from his patrol car before he was transported to an area hospital for medical treatment."
