A 43-year-old Tacoma man died in a one-car crash at southbound Interstate 705 and South 21st Street Monday night. The Washington State Patrol said speed was a factor, and that investigators confirmed that the vehicle hit curbing on the 21st Street exit, and vaulted over the barrier of the overpass back onto I-705. The man was the driver and only occupant of the 2008 Audi involved in the crash that happened about 7 p.m. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials have not yet released his name. Investigators were still determining whether other circumstances were a factor of the crash, but the State Patrol said it was caused by the driver.
