Two die in head-on crash on Guide Meridian.

A suspected drunken driver on Guide Meridian caused a head-on crash that left two young men dead early Tuesday, Dec. 31, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Police: Alcohol likely a factor in fatal crash

The Washington State Patrol says alcohol was likely a factor in a double fatal crash in Whatcom County on Tuesday morning.

A head-on crash on Guide Meridian left two young men dead early Tuesday, Dec. 31, according to the Washington State Patrol. Travis Lee Holst, 23, the driver of a green '03 Chevy Tahoe, had been driving northbound on Guide Meridian before he crossed the center line near Smith Road. The Tahoe crashed head-on into a silver '97 Honda Civic driven by Brox Mitchell Browning, 20, of Lynden, at 12:17 a.m. Browning died at the scene.

You can get the report from the M.E. Office. The herald has done an update based on those results. You must find a way to prevent this false reporting.

Thank you, Shari, for your comment. We are sorry for your loss, and we're sorry that our little resource has so far followed in the footsteps of The Bellingham Herald by describing this accident as if it was Travis' fault. In the time since we wrote this report, we have entered information on almost 3000 other accidents around the country; but we live in Bellingham, and one of the inspirations for this website was our dislike of how the Herald, and papers and TV stations like it, handle accident reporting. The news media reports the story of an accident one day and then they move on, while the families deal with the consequences for the rest of their lives. In this case, I can find promises to publish toxicology results, but I don't see any updates since the middle of January. If you email additional information to tips@accidentdatacenter.com, we'll publish it. We didn't lie when we repeated what the Herald had written, but we want to provide a place where there is room for more than that.

Travis's tox screen came back NEG for ANY substance. The other drivers tox screen came back POS for multiple substances. Just so you are aware you wrote a lie
