The Washington State Patrol said a mother and her 14-year-old daughter were killed Saturday near Prosser when a flatbed pickup crossed the centerline and struck their vehicle.

Authorities said Ilda Islas, 44, and her daughter Alejandra Islas died at the scene on State Route 22 at Richards Road. A 5-year-old passenger in their vehicle, Francisco Islas, was taken to a local hospital.

The driver of the pickup, Jeremy Meyer, 21, of Mabton, was also taken to the hospital.

Troopers blamed the crash on inattention, and charges were under investigation.

Mother, daughter killed in crash near Prosser

A mother and her daughter from Prosser were killed Saturday afternoon just west of town when a flatbed pickup crossed the centerline and struck their vehicle, the Washington State Patrol reported.

Ilda Islas, 44, and Alejandra Islas, 14, died at the scene on State Route 22 at Richards Road, authorities said.
