5 injured, 1 critically after impaired driver crashes into Fond du Lac Verizon store

According to a news release from Fond du Lac Fire Rescue, the 20-year-old Oakfield male driver of the car was speeding when they crashed into the building around 12:20 p.m. Crews found the car fully inside the building after the impact.

On Thursday, Fond du Lac County District Attorney Eric Toney announced that Benjamin Ayer pleaded no contest and was convicted of several charges, including intoxicated use of a controlled substance causing great bodily harm, four counts of second-degree recklessly endangering safety, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of THC, and operating while intoxicated causing great bodily harm.

Benjamin Ayer, 21, pleaded no contest to eight counts – including four counts of second-degree recklessly endangering safety - while five others were dismissed.
