Highway 51 remained closed in both directions Wednesday morning after a fatal three-vehicle crash, the Dane County Sheriff's Office said.

The crash occurred about 7:40 a.m. on Highway 51 at Lake Kegonsa Road near Stoughton. A southbound Hyundai lost control on a curve and crossed into the northbound lane, hitting a Chevrolet Malibu operated by Loni M. Manion, 30, of Stoughton, the sheriff's office said.

The Hyundai then crossed in the path of a second northbound vehicle, a Ford truck driven by Larry L. Seidl, 66, of Stoughton.

The driver of the Hyundai, a 44-year-old man from Oregon, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a sheriff's office news release. The two other drivers were treated for minor injuries.

Speed and road conditions were the main factors in the crash, which remains under investigation by the Dane County Sheriff's Office.

The crash closed all lanes of Highway 51 in both directions, for about two hours.
